Day 12 - Sun 25 Sep - Seville
16-28 deg C, a relatively cool day
Walk: 14.2km
Had breakfast with Sylvain, then said goodbye as he was leaving later in the morning; I'm the last one standing, as I was in Glasgow 2018 and Abu Dhabi 2019.
I caught the #27 bus into the city, and wouldn't you know it, the final stop changed. Just great; by doing the recce yesterday, I thought I was all set. Never mind, the stop was in the same street, just a couple before the normal route (there was some kind of run on this morning which may have been the cause, but the run finished about 9:30am and the changed route was still in play when I returned after lunch)? My plan was to visit the Mushrooms again, then catch the HOHO bus from #13 to visit some more sites. As the bus would have taken at least 1.5 hours to get to #13, I decided to just walk the route, in the reverse direction. On the way I stopped at the Alameda de Hércules with the Roman Columns, Arco de la Macarena, the old Walls Of Seville, Torre de los Perdigones (Shot Tower), Pavillion of the Future, Museum of Contemporary Art, and Seville Tower,
I made my way back to a MacDonalds I had seen yesterday that was close to the stop where I thought the bus wold take me back to the hotel. I had a leisurely lunch and had walked over 12km by this time. I got to the bus stop only to overhear someone saying, in Spanish, that the bus would not stop here and pointed to the printed info on the pole. Not to worry, I put that into Google maps and it told me that is was 800m away. Off I went and managed to get there seconds before it left. By the time I got back to the hotel, I was quite tired and had sore knees and feet. But I had a really good day, on my own.
I had a nana nap before doing a preliminary pack. My train to Madrid is not until 11:43am tomorrow, so I do have a bit of time in the morning to complete the packing. I'm sad to be leaving Seville, as I feel I have only just come to know the place. I reckon you could have at least 14 days here and still not see it all.
As I am on my own tonight, I had another pre-packed salad in my room. It's a bit hard to socialise when you don't speak the language.
