Day 17: Fri 30 Sep - Brisbane to Home, 3h30m
We landed at Brisbane five minutes ahead of schedule and we caught the airbridge people napping; it was an extra two minutes before we were able to disembark! I don't think I have ever landed at Brisbane early so this was a treat indeed. As we were the first international flight to land, the arrivals hall was devoid of passengers and I was through passport control in about 60 seconds. Had to wait what seemed like ages, but was probably no more than seven - eight minutes for my bag to come out and I was second in line for customs. I always declare anything I think I should and this time I declared I was bringing back some prescription meds, and in no time I was out in the arrivals hall texting Greg to let him know I was ready to be picked up.
I needed a pit stop before beginning the journey home, and then met Greg at the arrivals car park not long after. We were soon on our way home. My head fell off my neck a few times on the way home, but only for a few seconds each time. All-in-all I managed to stay awake for most of the drive. A Maccas stop for coffee helped.
A little over 42 hours after I'd left the hotel at Madrid, I was back home. If you take into consideration the 2.5 hour train trip from Seville to Madrid, that takes it to over two days to get home!
It was so good to be home, in the fresh country air, and all my babies (bird life, kangaroos, and the horse and cows from next door) came to welcome me home. I unpacked a few things, then had some lunch, then crashed for about an hour.
The Congress is at Brisbane next year, so not so far to travel. Cape Town in 2024.

Beautiful photo to finish with.
